WHAT ARE THE CONDITIONS FOR TAKING OVER A LEASING IN SWITZERLAND ?

Have you found the right leased car for you on our car leasing platform ? Here are the requirements that must be met before you can apply for a lease takeover in Switzerland.

The conditions for taking over a leased car:

Finance companies require guarantees before they will grant you a car lease takeover. The minimum requirements are as follows :

  • You must have been resident in Switzerland for tax purposes for at least 6 months (domicile for private individuals or registered office for companies)
  • You must be a Swiss citizen or reside in Switzerland with a B or C residence permit that is valid until the end of the leasing contract to be taken over
  • Prove that you have sufficient financial means to pay the monthly leasing instalments. If your assets or income are sufficiently high but have not been so for a long time, e.g. when you move to Switzerland or take up a new job, you may be asked to make a first down payment when you take over the lease

Documents required for the transfer of a lease in Switzerland:

As with the conclusion of a lease on a new vehicle, the documents required for the takeover of a used lease are as follows:

For private persons :

  • A valid identity document (identity card or passport)
  • A copy of your C or B residence permit
  • A copy of your last three payslips for employees (note that a copy of your employment contract may be requested)

For self-employed persons or companies:

  • An extract from the trade register of the lessee
  • A copy of the identity documents of the persons authorised to sign on behalf of the lessee
  • A copy of the identity document of the person jointly and severally liable

Please note that you may be asked to provide a copy of your last tax assessment.

In some cases, you will be asked to provide an extract from the debt collection register. If you are actively prosecuted, you will not be able to lease a new vehicle or take over a used vehicle on our platform. You will have to contact companies that specialise in leasing with debt collection. The same applies to people living outside Switzerland. It is not possible to transfer a leasing contracted in Switzerland to our French neighbours, for example.
